Moody Schoodic
Hiked the Schoodic Bog loop today. A newish trail, just flagged. No bog bridges or signs. But I felt comfortable due to the flagging, Schoodic looking out for me, and my blaze orange hat. Wet feet though, some very mushy spots.
A marvelous experience of trust, following those blue plastic ribbon flags on the tricky path through the woods. Sometimes I couldn’t see one right away in the deep shadow, or I wasn’t looking in the right direction. Again and again, a minor quelling of concern that I’d be abandoned, left lost in the deep woods. But I always found the next flag eventually and then the road and then my car in the parking lot. Trust and patience, and keeping moving. With the mount behind me, at my back.
