the unfinished house
January was a difficult month, a long month.
Two trips, one to Florida, another to Maine.
Now it is over. (Finished?)
The concept of “finished.”
Bachelard – “It is better to live in a state of impermanence than in one of finality.” (POS 61)
Working on “the unfinished house” as a koan.
John Tarrant – koans “encourage you to make an ally of the unpredictability of the mind and to approach your life more as a work of art.” (Bring me the rhinoceros, 2)
A prison cannot be unfinished.
A house can be unfinished, but not finished.
A work of art can be both finished and unfinished.
