Some words
I’ve been working on my words for the Painted Speech class, in between plowing and shoveling! A nice contrast in activity.
This is a prototype of the pages. I’m learning to be more delicate with my lines. Today, I’m trying out painting with gouache and a LOT of water to get some subtle color.
I’m not even sure what to call the artwork – drawings? paintings? words? They originated with words, but it’s hard to even remember what the words were. I used a 4×4 paper frame to determine what part of the painted word to cut out.

wordings maybe? … gouache strikes me as less flowing than other paints, but I’d say you absolutely hit the right water to paint ratio in the red/gray piece
I like the red-gray a lot because it wasn’t heavy handed. The brush I used for the gray marks was almost completely dry.
Such interesting work, that looks fun to do.
It is fun, Nancy, but feeling out of my comfort zone. Good for me, though.
