Gray with a few sparkles
I finished my second little weaving on the pipe loom. This time I put on the warp by memory, without referencing the videos constantly. There were mistakes. But I was able to weave without too much trouble. Feeling more confident.
And a little house appeared. And later a little sun. The original idea was to fill up the 3″ square with bits and pieces of leftover yarn without trying to make anything recognizable. But after I wove the sea for a while, I thought it needed a house. Then a window. Then a roof. It was exciting.

Here’s the piece just off the loom. If I wanted to quibble, the sea is lapping at the foundation and the roof is lopsided. The little sun is flat on the bottom. I convinced myself that its shape shows it is rising out of fog. Good enough.
There is a metallic thread in the gray yarn that can’t be seen well. That pretty much describes the mood these days, gray with a few sparkles.

And here’s the piece with ends woven in. Will I do another? I don’t know.

Gray with a few sparkles; I’ll take it and this little house, woven into a softly undulating sea, sun overhead, calm colors with the bit of jolt in the seaweed colored waves is just the sparkle I needed today.
thank you, Marti! we can all use a little sparkle, I think
“perfection†is overrated … I quite like your house just as it is … likewise the sun and the sea
Hi Liz, weaving so far seems to be a peculiar mix of rustic and exact. I do like the way this came out. thanks for your comment!
I love this one!
I think this is my favorite of all the little weavings I’ve done.
