wicked cold
We didn’t have that much snow yesterday. Some of it fell as sleet or rain, and then turned to ice. Today we have high winds and lots of blowing snow. Drifts are forming.

And to celebrate Presidents’ Day, we went to a protest. Froze. One *rump supporter driving around in a pickup with a big flag and a large crowd of protesters who didn’t really know how to handle anything that was happening.
I was involved with Occupy Wall Street in 2011. Sam and I stayed overnight in Zuccotti Park, the epicenter of Occupy Wall Street in New York City. I wrote this about our experience. I visited the Occupy encampment several times after that and also helped cook and deliver food to the protests for several weeks. I keep thinking back to those days. How fast the encampments sprang up and how organized things were almost immediately. How brutally it was squelched. How good it felt to be idealistic and hopeful and in community.
Good for you and Sam, standing up for Democracy. I did not go out yesterday but wore a little cloth sign on my sweater that said, NOT my President. I probably will keep wearing the little sign when I go out and about. New Mexico is a blue state; unfortunately the town I live in, Rio Rancho, hosted Trump in 2016 and leans toward the evil side, so all the more reason to wear my sign. My daughters and son-in=law, who live in CA, went to Sacramento, the state capitol to protest yesterday. What surprised them was the lack of media presence. They said it looked like several thousand were demonstrating and several signs caught their eyes, especially this one:
M – Maniacs
A- Are
G- Gutting
A- America
I like your button idea. We live in a mixed area too. I have also heard that media presence was slim. Good sign!
I appreciate the sentiment but the problem is he IS our president.
Hurray for attending the protest! We live in a very small remote community (and one of the only two counties on the entire coast of California that voted red). I’m disappointed there are no protests to attend in our region. I email my congressmen and try to stay informed so I can speak to others with accuracy, not just frustration. On a different note, your snow is beautiful but I’m guessing you’re looking forward to spring. Stay well.
Even though I love snow, I am looking forward to spring.
Good to see you there yesterday! More to come !
Nice to see you here! Definitely more to come. We attended George Floyd protests weekly for quite a few weeks and this is huge in comparison.
Gosh, this snow Catherine. The dips and curves and shadows…a beautiful photo.
Good for you guys for getting out. Scary times.
The snow is fascinating to look at. When I’m not seeing it as a problem! Thanks for the perspective.
