Reading spring
I’ve made up a game to help get through March. It’s a game with myself to identify the earliest signs of spring, even when there seem to be no signs.
The main one I’ve noticed for sure is that the hazelnut catkins are getting longer and more yellow. The pollen is forming. I get some cheer from observing them.
I’m sure there are other signs out there waiting to be discovered.

Mid-March
mind flooded
with memories of flowers

Those catkins remind me of something similar on the trees in front of my childhood apartment. We used them to make “mush”.
I bet the intentional looking for spring helps.
Sweet memory! I remember playing with plants a lot too.
it’s comforting knowing you are on the other side of the world watching catkins
It’s a comfort to me knowing that you know.
