Home at the end of the year
Today we took a short road trip to a nearby town called Castine. A beautiful waterfront town with a bookstore/coffee shop. It was a fun trip in the rain and light snow. The bookstore/coffee shop is closing tomorrow for the winter. Maybe we’ll return next spring when they reopen.
We got home just as the daylight was disappearing, about 3:30. After closing the chicken coop door for the night I had the chance to look at the house in a light snowfall. Maybe that’s a little smoke from the woodstove against the cloudy sky.
As long as I can remember, I’ve loved the feeling of looking into lighted windows when I’m outside in the gathering darkness.
Sounds lovely! Your home looks so warm and inviting…and I’m with you on the peering in at dusk…there’s something magical about catching a moment of time.
There is a lot that can be said for peering in at dusk. Being an observer, feeling outside in the big dark, knowing I can go in when I want to…
Castine sounds like my kind of town .. and your home!!! With the lights on it looks and says “WELCOME “ thank you for sharing these warm wonderful pictures. Happy NewYear … looking forward to our visits at the Well!
Castine is a small town that doesn’t give up its secrets easily. I think there’s a lot more to discover there.
The tree is so beautiful and the lighted windows make the house look very welcoming. These pictures give me a sense of peace. Happy New Year to you!
There is a sense of peace there. Happy New Year, although it’s already the 3rd!
may 2024 prove to be a gentle year for you and yours
And I wish the same for you and yours, Liz.
