Bake-a-thon

I had some pears growing old in the fruit basket. A pear muffin recipe came my way. I made some pear muffins. They’re mostly gone.

We’re going away to Quebec City for a few days to have a pre-holiday holiday with my siblings and nieces. Sam requested some cranberry bread for the trip. I thought I should make some to share too. So – two loaves of cranberry bread.

And we’re running low on sandwich bread. We need some for the trip! So also, two more loaves of my regular sourdough bread.

I don’t bake Christmas cookies like I used to when I was raising kids. Our diets are very spartan actually. And my favorite recipes are free from dairy, eggs, and fat. The oil substitute in the muffins and the cranberry bread is prune puree. The sourdough is just flour, salt, water, and sourdough starter. I think it’s a miracle everytime I make it.

Today while walking I saw someone had hung a sparkly red Christmas ball on this little pine by the roadside. I love touches like that.
