In memoriam Natalie
My ex-mother-in-law Natalie passed away today. Just a few days shy of her 90th birthday on August 14th.
Here’s a photo of us together. We are preparing for lunch in Burano, Italy. January 28, 2012. She had vowed to travel to Venice after her husband Tom passed away, and she did just that. Rented an apartment for an extended period and invited people to come stay with her. Sam and I took advantage of the invitation, even though I had been divorced from her son for many years. It was a lovely trip.
Natalie looks like a lovely and special lady. How wonderful to be able to travel to Venice and include others as she did! My sympathy for your loss of a remarkable person.

Sorry for my duplicate comments. 🙁
No worries! Weird glitches happen.
Thank you, Stephanie.
no words come to me, but I appreciate that you posted this telling tale and the picture of the two of you … I bid you peace
Thank you, Liz. There’s a lot more to the tale, but this is enough for the blog.
What a generous offer from Natalie. There is something catching about how you are both sitting, hands on table – in your own way. I feel like there is a story there, even if it is just that she reminds me of my EX’s grandma and how she held her hands clasped like that.
It was quite a trip. There are a lot of stories about Natalie, I have a lot of memories.
