Cold
It’s 8 below zero at 5 pm. Supposed to reach 17 below tonight. Windy too. Hard to believe it’s that cold. People say it used to frequently get this cold during the Maine winter, but I think these are the coldest temps I’ve ever seen. Sam was out doing things all day but I stayed home. Made bread for baking tomorrow morning and visited the chickens twice. They seem fine. I’ve given them a lot of sunflower seeds for the high fat content.
I took this photo yesterday – long thin crystals surrounding a little icy patch in the forest. I’m sure there are more interesting formations in ice happening today.
And inside by the woodstove, my chair is next to this patch on the couch quilt. The edges of the moon have worn, frayed, and rolled, but the stitching square remains. The patch is like a distant memory of summer.
it’s sooooo cold, can’t imaging what it is like up near you.
but the sun is out and we made it through the night even tho the power went out.
I think the worst is over. It was nice to see the sun this morning after the long cold windy night. Just a minor frozen pipe issue here.
Oh my gosh…that cold! I’ve decided that I’m a big baby about cold 🙂
Stay warm!
This cold felt really threatening and I got claustrophobic because of being stuck inside.
