I spent almost all day yesterday weeding and mulching the garden.
Last night, lots of wind and rain. Not raining now, but it’s still in the forecast.
Calendula doesn’t want to stop. It’s making tons of seeds. A companionable group of Carrots, Mullein, Borage. The mullein snuck in on its own. Some empty rows, but lots still growing. Mostly greens – kale, collards, radicchio – and brassicas – brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli. Hay bales are waiting to fill spaces. I love it when I find these little creatures. This one held perfectly still as I moved the board. I’m sure it was alive, but I didn’t want to disturb it by poking it. The hoophouse. We’re leaving the cover off to allow maximum sunshine and rain – until we need it for cold. Arugula and kale growing strong. Some spinach and red lettuce (well-camouflaged), carrots, and a little escarole.
nothing is stopping here but snow is coming they say, hard to imagine at this point. I will try the hoop house thing next year. Just a small cold frame now.

Snow is coming here too. And cold starting tonight. Getting ready.
