I am taking some time to feel gratitude today. For plants, for my garden, for all the giving that goes on in the world.

And look at this! A fresh angel wing begonia sprout arose from the soil after I thought I’d killed the plant by leaving it out in the cold. I was so happy to see this baby. I thought it might arrive, but off a stalk, not a root. Surprise!

nothing like a new sprout!
It’s so phenomenal!
Yay for the begonia sprout! As a kid, a girlfriend and I had all of these silly little catch phrases. One of them, said in a real sing-song voice was “begonias aaaalllll over your garden”! I don’t think I had any idea what a begonia was back then, but she’d made that up and we said it so silly that it just cracked me up. I can still hear in my head the intonation in our voices ????
And yes, may you have begonias all over Your garden!!
As kids we used to bite into the thick part of begonia blossoms. To taste the weird sour flavor. We didn’t eat them. No idea where we learned this was possible, not poisonous. Kids are funny!
Indeed! I loved sucking out the one drop of sweetness in the honeysuckle flowers. Taught my daughter that one and she taught her son. I am still compelled to pick a few flowers!
