On this planet
Sam planted the tomato row yesterday. It was buggy but not hot. Rain in the forecast, but not much. We put in fewer plants than last year. My seeds didn’t germinate well, maybe too old. We’ll see if having fewer plants that are less crowded makes for better harvests.

The rest of the garden is almost all planted. The only plants really visible are the broccoli, cabbage, peas, spinach, and fava beans. Everything else is too small to see at this angle. The garden is so wonderful at this time, full of promise, and not too overwhelmingly needy.

And – these bachelor buttons! I had some in the front garden but they were eliminated by the overly vigorous tansy. I brought home two large clumps from another community gardener’s excess and put them along the driveway. It’s a little shady, but there’s not too much competition. And they’re blooming already.

Raindrops on the day lily leaves along the house. Everything is fresh after rain last night and this morning.

I’m taking note of the variety of white wildflowers under foot. I seem to forget they come at this time of year.

On a completely different note, some yellow-orange lichen growing on a rock in the sea

And a very curious message found along the side of the road. Only a pedestrian would be able to read this, so I’m not sure of the purpose. But I guess I could still walk slower!
