Bluets

I’m really admiring the bluets in the yards around here right now. Houstonia caerulea, a native plant. Also known as Quaker ladies or “pissabeds” by old timers. Someone somewhere back in time was aware of its diuretic properties.

They grow in beautiful drifts of white, with just a hint of blue violet.

At some point later, they will just disappear.
