A Tuesday in May
I’m working on a new weaving. It’s theme is green. Green with slits. I realized I have a lot of green or green-adjacent yarns and threads. What if I combined them all in a monochromatic weaving? And included some slits so I could weave through the weaving? I’m not sure how the second part is going to work, but I’m enjoying the green color palette so far.

And I took a walk. Long, down to the shore. Lots to see. Astonishing, really.

What a fab weaving… I would wear a sweater with all of these colors and design…green is my favorite color and I like to imagine myself as a moss nymph!
I love green, and it is really impressing me to watch spring come with all its new greens. A moss nymph, how lovely!
love the contrasts in your weaving … the dense weft-faced fuzzy yarn (wool?) brings the tabby woven threads (cotton or silk?) into sharper focus … and “green adjacent” made me smile
the little periwinkles just below the mussel also brought a smile of recognition from the days I used to walk along the shores of the Peconic Bay on Shelter Island … happy memories from so many years ago
I really enjoy the contrasts in threads/yarns. There’s silk, wool and cotton all in there. Lots of fun. Glad you liked the periwinkles!
i really need to do some weaving.
I find that if I have my loom warped and some idea in my mind, I will weave in spare moments. I keep the weaving in progress on our dining table and weave while waiting for water to boil or dinner to cook Even just a few passes a day and something gets made.
Love this green weaving so much!!
Thank you, Nancy! I am enjoying it very much.
