Forest and sky
I finished up the quilting on this small square this morning. A good task on new year’s morning. Wrapping something up. The cloth feels good, solid. Although a little confused. The stitching is very irregular. I want to work on that. I might add another motif – envisioning a stitched spiral to unify the piece. I thought about what to call it. A good exercise I learned from Jude.

I’ve been using my outdoor photos to prompt my thinking about handiwork. (Is handiwork a really old fashioned word?)
Yesterday on a walk I tried to take a photo looking directly at the pale disk of sun. The camera behaved strangely in the weird light and so did the filters I tried. But I like how the disk is visible.
So I was contemplating the three photos and a satisfying name popped up: Forest and Sky.
Happy New Year!

i love your handiwork very much. and your bend, neath your ForestSky
I liked that bend so much too. I tried zooming in on the sun but then I lost the bend.
a stitched spiral would be a wonderful addition … although I hope you have better luck than I, as my rather tight stitching draws cloth up into a hill when I make circles and spirals …
your photo of the sun is magical and I’m inspired to trying taking a similar shot some day
It was interesting taking that photo. I’m going to play with it digitally as a layer (Jude-inspired, as so much is…).
