Keeping it flat
This coil is building up pretty quickly. I loved how it looked on the table this morning in the sunshine. With the pile of rags and twine surrounding it. The baling twine is kind of rough, really hairy, but I have a lot of it. It came from Millard’s hay that’s now spread for mulching. It makes a sturdy disk and can be easily pierced with the needle. Two strands is about the right thickness.
I don’t know what it’s going to be – a basket? a tray? or just a big disk? We’ll see. Keeping it flat for now.
Yesterday morning – first snow of the season.
I am fascinated by this … thinking one could start such a coil at the beginning of a cloth project, weaving each scrap as it became available, creating a diary of a cloth’s making …
and I very much like your choice to keep it flat …
I have always wanted to try this, the real basket thing, ha!
