Asemic penpals
I belong to an asemic writing group on Facebook. There was recently a call for penpals that I joined. No need to write meaningfully, just send some asemic artwork in the mail. This appealed to me and seemed motivating. I worked on my monotypes again, which I had abandoned in the busy part of the summer. Here’s a few photos.
Arches 88 paper is so weirdly absorbent (no sizing). I tried to ink some characters and it sucked all the ink from the nib making odd blotches. I let them alone because – asemic… Later I wrote over them with the brush pen. I like the aged look of the result.
that last is a “happy accident” for sure … I’m partial to asemic writing and enjoy the marks made on the back of cloth that is stitched with words
