Tiny indigo harvest
I was feeling embarrassed about my neglected dye garden and was continuing to ignore it. But an Instagram account I follow posted about her experiments dyeing little pieces of cloth with a small amount of indigo leaf and salt. The “salt rub method” can be looked up online. It’s easy. I harvested all but a few stalks of indigo, leaving a few with blooms that might set seed. This gave me enough to dye a small strip of organza a moody blue. I also dyed a bandaid that I happened to have on my finger from an incident with a super-sharp chef’s knife.
