Rags and scraps
I have resurrected this old project started around Valentine’s Day. The concept was heart motifs stitched to rough-cut squares of a eco-printed tea towel. Using mostly scraps and a semi-transparent layer on top of the towel.
I had the best time assembling these nine squares. I’m not sure where it’s going from here. The edges are raw and I think I should attach the pieces to some larger squares that will allow the edges of each to be stitched together while preserving the proportions of these patches.
As usual, projects hold many dilemmas that then have to be solved. Most of them seem related to a lack of foresight. But that makes it fun. These patches were a joy to stitch and to touch. I found it delightful to run my fingers over the stitch patterns and to feel the small weight of the stitched patch in my hand.
