Sewn board book
Another adventure in bookmaking with the Handmade Book Club – the sewn board book. This is the first time I’ve sewed, pressed, glued and covered a spine. I made a lot of mistakes as usual, but I like how the book turned out. And I’m happy to say I used up the last bit of a roll of Strathmore paper that I bought a few years ago. It turned out to be very hard to work with due to its irrepressible curl. I’m never buying a roll again!
I chose two old mixed media works on cheap drawing paper for my covers. It was fun to get these out of their dark storage location and into the light where I can more easily appreciate their bright colors and whimsical designs.
