Cordage
I walk by these dead iris leaves every day on the way to the garden and always marvel at their glowing orange color.
Today I couldn’t resist any longer so I pulled out a handful of leaves and twined some cordage.
Really fun to make something out of “nothing.†This cordage will end up in a basket.
Now the horseradish fiber (below) will require more work. I’ve harvested a pile of stems and stripped the initial gobs of slimy decayed leaf matter. But there is a lot more still to be stripped out of these. It’s messy and kind of chilly to work outdoors, so I’m not making good progress.
