Butterfly backing

I machine-pieced this backing for the butterfly cloth.

I was tired of trying to decide whether to hand stitch it or just move on. Suddenly an impulse to just do it took over. I sewed these seams to get to about the size required.

Then I had to add in some more to fill some gaps. It’s a nice comfortable size now although I may supplement another strip on the left side.

I also decided to remove the tablecloth from the center that I was going to include in the quilting. It makes the cloth kind of heavy and Jude has me biased toward thin cloth. so a three-layer cloth has become a two-layer.

Next step: baste these layers together. I don’t really know what I’m doing, just keeping going.
