Topstone circumambulation
I can’t resist a visit to Topstone Park in my childhood hometown of Redding, Connecticut. I like to circumambulate the pond and remember its appeal to me as a young person.
Thinking about Natalie DÃaz’s interview on Between the Covers where she talks about knowledges that cannot be translated.
Acknowledging the knowledges I have from growing up here and living in this place. The knowledge of what it’s like to walk on a trail covered with a mesh of tree roots and a slick layer of leaves. The knowledge of having a brown oak leaf fall into your hand. The knowledge of walking in a gust of falling leaves on a cloudy day. The knowledge of these leaf colors.
