Strip weaving on the shadow side

I’m filling out the edges of the yellow strip weaving with purple. I’m not sure I like the straight lines in the large circle. I keep visualizing the strips going around the form. Well hmmm. This is what’s happening right now. I’m trying to bend the long strips of purple slightly into more of an arc but they are determined to proceed along straight lines.

Here’s a photo with the reddish pink corona. It changes it a lot.

There’s still a long way to go with this design. I’m feeling empty of ideas or story about it right now. So simply enjoying the color play and the stitching process.
