Gathering

I put gathering threads in my long strip of red and purple.

Then I made some shapes with it, for fun.

Then I positioned it on the base. The gathering threads are visible in the center where they can be pulled to adjust the degree of ruffle.

I like the circle shape the best. I wanted to stitch it down immediately but realized I have to work on the layer underneath first.

Because of Jude’s influence, I’™tempted to leave some of the black and white tablecloth showing. My original intention was to cover it all up.

The whole thing is a little off center and I’m trying to decide if that matters to me. I’d really like the circle to be round and the center point of the butterfly to be in the center. But not there yet.

Moving on to making short strips for fabric weaving.
