A weaving interlude
Weaving is so cool. I really like it, although I feel uneasy with the newness of it and the seemingly vast amount of techniques, lore, and materials out there. Susan Barrett Merrill’s book The Art of Weaving a Life is grounding me in a series of projects. Rebecca Mezoff’s online class on Little Looms has been invaluable for confidence-building. And Sarah Swett’s blog just makes me want to keel over with the lovely inspiration of her work.
Progress: my doll body is off the loom and stitched with a rock in the base so it will stand. A “rustic” weaving with warp threads showing, uneven wefts, lumpy selvages, and unmatched stripes (even though I attempted to match them). But I love how she stands up! Simple pleasures.
I need to make the arms, head, hair, and accessories. Should be fun!
