november drawing practice
When I got back from India in July 2015, I saw an announcement of a drawing course offered by Roz Stendhal. Although I never had a drawing habit before, I was seriously gripped by a desire to learn to draw. So I took the course and have been more or less practicing drawing ever since.
Recently I’ve refocused and recommitted to daily drawing, the whole point, really. Also doing monthly self-evaluation and goals. As my bookmaking is coming alive, I want to add drawings to my books. I want to document my surroundings in Maine and on my travels. I want to pay that particular attention to drawing a subject, spending time with it, observing closely. I want to play with mark-making tools and papers.
So I did my November self-evaluation and singled out four drawings I really like. These are cropped a bit awkwardly into a square format so they look like a set. All on Strathmore gray toned paper. I was discovering white highlights and working on form and shadow.
