heading up the mountain
always feeling that it’s too strenuous for me
shifting into “one step at a time”
expressing gratitude for my legs
trying to cut the bandwidth available to my thoughts
occasionally stopping purposefully
observing my surroundings

eventually we reach the peak or near it
