releasing the dresser

I’ve had this dresser for a long time
tall and bulky
capacious
worn around the edges
but still useful

I’m not taking it
Goodwill rejected it too
just as it was starting to rain
heavy drops splattering

we took it home
it lingered in the driveway
three large drawers, one narrow
two tiny cubbies

a sad ending –
Sam demolished it
