moving the hive

challenge: move a Warré hive down the hill
without tipping, stumbling, getting stung

solution: straps holding boxes together,
carrying sticks attached to sides,
screen pinned over entrance

at 4:30 am when bees stay inside
we lift it up and carry it down uneven steps
moving at a slow pace over grass slippery with dew

easier than it seemed in the imagination
