“a system does not regulate everything”
Kevin Killian
“Kona Spray Ad Campaign”
ecopoetics 1
Trying to write about gay eco-erotica. Not sure what to say. Only that I would not ordinarily have encountered this story in my everyday life. So a journal is a system, and it can pull in anything. I don’t know if I want to claim that this story seems out of place. The journal is a mixed bag.
The system does not regulate everything. (Quote from the story, regarding false claims in advertising.) It could also apply to the idea that governmental regulation can address environmental issues. Also, that the natural system does not regulate its own outliers, and can participate in its own destruction?
Anyway, I looked up Kevin Killian and got some context. I wouldn’t have done this without the Internet. Also made me think that ecopoetics is kind of a zoo, presenting exotic animal after exotic animal, not in terms of an ecosystem. I don’t know what that kind of journal ecosystem would look like. Zoos, and journals, compile fragments of the whole big world.
