more about corn
I’m remembering a conference on the Prose Poem, August 2001, Walpole New Hampshire. Robert Bly attended. His main emphasis in writing prose poems is close observance of, intimacy with, the object. Including plants. He felt you couldn’t write about any object without those long moments of close observation.
I like this approach, although it seems like a limited way to enter prose poetry. I think it applies to “Everything I Know About Corn.” There is value for me in paying close attention to a plant, finding a way to write about, letting it find its way into your writing.
