nushu (women’s script)

I asked her why she did not write her poem down in Hanzi instead of Nushu. She told me that she was not able to, that it was too daunting to even think about writing down her feelings in Hanzi. However, using Nushu, she felt she could. She said it took her two months to write the eight page, 94 verse, 658 character poem Jing-hua Si Er (Jing Hua Thinks of Her Child).
