Act of candlelighting

Dining room transformed,
festive.

Full,
friends,
coworkers,
family,
enemies,
guests, and
visitors.

White napkins
flap at
tablecloths
in waves
decorated with
silver,
plates,
and stains.

I place the
candle
on the table
and find my match.

I hold the match against the right wick. It catches and at once, emergency! White forms made from foam emerge from flame. I hold the match at the tip, the show continues. I'm startled, but I know what to do. I concentrate and hold the match carefully. Many forms emerge. The guests are pleased. The second wick, the same.
