Just hanging out in the driveway next to the Prius.
A few turkeys visited the yard. Caught this one with the cell phone camera. Impressive.
I saw this eagle while on my walk down to Jellison Cove. It looks like a juvenile because the head was not completely white. He or she was eating a bird judging by the feathers that were raining down from his perch.
Their winter hiatus has ended. One egg on Ash Wednesday, and as though to prove it not a fluke, two eggs on Thursday.
Still seems like winter. Here’s a photo of Mount Desert Island’s mountains as viewed from my cold walk.
Deb took me hiking in an area off Macomber Mill Road where there are signs of moose. We didn’t see a moose but it was fun to observe their signs.
Morning visit from a bobcat.
Deb and I took a walk from camp to Duck Pond. We were entertained by this curious beaver, who headed towards us from the faraway heath and then swam back and forth in front of us over and over.
I tried to take a photo with my cellphone, which usually works pretty well. But it was not up to this almost monochromatic scene with little contrast. Sam snapped this photo with his camera.
Sam spotted this barred owl hunting from a perch in a pine tree. We watched it for quite awhile as it swiveled its head back and forth inspecting the presence of mice or voles. Maybe chipmunks. We have a lot of small rodents, so wishing the owl happy hunting.
